A service manages the transfer of data of a certain type via the Internet. There are several of such services where the most well-known is the "world wide web" ("www"). There are other services e.g. for emails, file transfers and VOIP.
As in practice the terms "Internet" and "www" are similarly used a service could also mean a website which above plain information offers special interactive functionality for the users.
