Der Pagerank

The name Pagerang is not containing the word (web-) page but is derived by the name of one of the two founders of Google (Brin and Page). The Pagerank is the measure Google uses to evaluate the quality and the importance of websites.

As the exact algorithm is kept secret there are only guesses about it's functionality. But it could be taken as granted that a static analysis of the page content and the number and kind of links pointing to that page have great influence on the Pagerank. Because Google intruduced that algorithm very early and is one of the largest search engines the Pagerank (abbrev.: PR) is a common measure for the impact of a webpage.
