A large number of cross linked websites made to increase the rank for search engines of one or more participating websites. Each single website in the link farm links to many (if not all) other sites in the farm. This gives the so linked websites a huge number of incoming likes which should fool a search engine to think the site being of a high relevance.
While in the past link farms were a widely used way for increasing the rank of a website, today they are used with more caution as the search engine's algorithms has been updated to detect link farming. Many owners of websites fear that too intense cross linking might be evaluated as manipulation and lead to disranking.
