(abbrev.: "electronic mail")
An email is a message which is send via the Internet to it's recipient. The email protocol is so widely spread that there are countless programs which could be used to send or recieve emails.
When sending an email you can choose to send it not only to one or more recipients (mostly named "To:") but also to other visible recipients (mostly named "CC:" for "carbon copy") and unvisible recipients (mostly named "BCC:" for "blind carbon copy"). In general "To:" would be used for those who are effected by the mail, "CC:" for those who are not effected but should take notice and "BCC:" for those who should take notice but should not be visible for the other recipients.
In addition to a text message email is capable to include one ore more files which could be attached to the email and would be send along with the text message.
